Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick Review
Because I tend to have dry skin, I am always on the lookout for a great cream blush. Considering my fair complexion, I like to apply a natural looking blush to add a little color to my cheeks. Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick has been my go-to blush for several years!
Pros of Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick
In my opinion, the most important feature of a cream blush is that it is blendable. Because I am so fair, many blushes look clownish on my skin. With Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick, I can easily build the color to a shade that works for me. However, once the blush has been applied and has set for a while, it stays put. I have found that this blush stays on through the entire day, even if I am sweating or crying.
In the image above, I have applied Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in 05 Shy Blush. I have found that this is the perfect everyday color for me because it adds a rosy glow while still looking natural. Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick also is available in three other colors, including Glow Blush, a shimmering almond color, Peachy Blush, and Rosy Blush. There really is a shade for every skin color! In fact, my friends who have vastly different skin tones have used the same blush colors as I have with great results. Because the color is very buildable, you can really create your own custom look.
Cons of Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick
Because my skin is fairly dry, a cream blush is perfect for me. However, if you tend to have oily skin, cream blush may not be the best choice. When you use cream blush on oily skin, it often ends up accentuating the oiliness and sometimes will ‘slide’ or ‘melt’ off. Because of this, Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick isn’t necessarily a good fit for everyone. Although $21.00 is a little pricey for a blush, this cream stick lasts forever. In fact, I used mine for a year before it expired and there was still a good amount of product left. However, in case you do reach the bottom of the blush stick, follow these tips to make the most of the product. Because of the lipstick like applicator, some product can get stuck in the bottom. Use a small spoon to remove the last of the blush and store it in a smaller container.
Swatches
In the picture above, the swatch to the right is 05 Shy Blush, the same shade worn in the picture under “Pros of Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick”, and the swatch to the left is 03 Rosy Blush. As you can see, Shy Blush is a much subtler shade with a more coral hue while Rosy Blush is a bit darker with more pink and red undertones.
In the picture above, I am wearing 03 Rosy Blush. This is a little bit of a darker color that I normally don’t use on its own. Sometimes I will mix the two colors for a more dramatic effect.
How to Apply
To apply Clinique Blushwear Cream Blush, use your fingers or a sponge to swipe it across the apples of your cheeks. Then, make sure to blend it upwards to make it look natural. One of the problems with cream blush is that if you don’t blend it, it leaves streaks. It is important that the colors blends into your skin evenly.
Also, I often use this product as a lipstick. In both pictures, I am wearing 03 Rosy Blush on my lips! I love that this product works in multiple ways. Its great for traveling as I can use it as both a blush and a lip color.
Overall, I really like Clinique Blushwear Cream Blush. However, as I said above, if you have oily skin, it may not work as well for you. Also, remember to blend, blend, blend! Let me know what you think of this product in the comments below!
Have a Beautiful Day!
