Dita Von Teese Makeup Tutorial + Makeup Tips
I have never seen anyone consistent with a specific look other Ms. Dita Von Teese. She almost always wears jet black eyeliner, winged outward, and a red lip. It’s her signature look! Some may call it the pin-up look, or the old Hollywood look but bottom line is, it’s gorgeous and it’s not that hard to do too!
Let me teach you how!
I’m going to start with moisturizing my face. I’m actually using a tinted moisturizer to help even out my skin tone. Any moisturizer will work, of course. The goal is to hydrate your skin.
Apply your foundation all over your face with the use of any makeup tool your comfortable with.
TIP: A beauty guru named, Michelle Phan, found out that the best way to apply liquid foundation is by using a foundation brush. She experimented on a lemon. According to her, the lemon’s peel is closest to the human skin.
I love this part because it’s like magic! I usually apply concealer on dull areas like around my mouth and ,of course, on my pimple scars.
TIP: If you lack sleep most of the time like I do, it’s best to apply concealer under your eyes in triangle shapes like this:
This helps brighten the area under your eyes making you look more awake! Blend it out and see the difference! Try not to go overboard, by the way. Small dots in the shape of triangles will do.
Setting your face with powder makes your foundation and concealer last longer. Dusting your face evenly with a fluffy brush distributes the powder, thus avoiding cakey-ness. No body wants that…
Brush your brows upward so their arches show more prominently. I used a dark brown brow liner to define my brows and fill them in. My brows are thicker than Dita’s so I made them sharper looking.
Apply your eyeshadow. These are the colors closest to what I saw in the picture. The champagne color goes on your brow bone, the brown/taupe color on your crease, the powder blue color on your eyelids and the shimmery silver on the inner part of your eye like so:
Refer to the map if you’re not 100% sure where your colors go.
Next step is to apply eyeliner. I think that this is most important!
TIP: To make that perfect wing, what you need to do first is line your eyes normally. Next, flick just one line outward. Start from the outer tip of that line and connect the line with the inside and color it in. Try it! It will take a few tries, so practice.
Curl your lashes and then apply two coats of mascara on top and then one coat on your bottom lashes. Your upper lashes should look thicker than usual.
Apply the lightest blush you have on your collection. I chose the lightest blush I had on my palette too. I wanted just a hint of color. A darker blush would have made the look “a little too much“.
The last step! It’s hard to believe that this look only takes 10 steps but it’s really easy. So step 10 is to apply your favorite red lipstick.
Just for fun, why don’t you try out vintage accessories to top the look off. If you don’t like accessories that much, a vintage hair style will also work.
DID YOU KNOW: that Dita Von Teese does her own makeup?
I hope you had fun. Comment if you want the Mew bloggers to do a vintage hair tutorial!
