Doing MAC’s “Hey Sailor” Pin-up Look
Hey Sailor! Come here often? (Wink*)
MAC is joining in on the Pin-up trend with their release of the new Hey Sailor Collection. It’s the 21st century but this just proves that some looks will always be timeless classics that people will go back to. Let’s do that today and learn how to do MAC’s Hey Sailor Pin-up look with a modern hint — a crimson lip and midnight blue smoky eyes with some shimmer.
What you will need:
1. Foundation, concealer, powder
2. Bronzer
3. Browliner (If you need to tidy those brows up!)
4. Your eyeshadows and your primer (it’s alright if you don’t have one)
5. Your lipcolor
6. and Maybe a sailor hat?
NOTE: What’s great is you don’t have to have the entire collection to make this look. Just make sure that the colors are similar or close and you are ready!
Hey Sailor Face

Step 1: Always start with a freshly cleaned face. Moisturize or prime your face with the usual. Now, apply your foundation evenly before you apply your concealer. Set your foundation and concealer with a light dusting of powder on your face. Skip this step if your foundation is powder.
QUICK TIP: I’m using both liquid foundation and liquid concealer. That’s why I’m putting on my foundation first. If you have a liquid concealer and a powder foundation, it’s probably better to put on the concealer first.
Step 2: We need to bronze it up but not too much! Take your bronzer and contour the sides of your face with it. Apply the bronzer on the sides of your face and not directly on the apples of your cheeks.

Step 3: Doing your brows is optional if you already have tidy ones but I cannot skip this step — you probably can see why. Line your brows with a brow liner that’s three shades lighter than your hair color to make them look neater. Brush your brows upward so your arch is defined.
Step 4: This is the point where you can prime your eyes. It’s alright not to use a primer but it’s better if you do because we want a better color pay off especially with this look. Here’s what we’re going to do:

Step 5: Highlight your eyes with a semi-shimmery powder with a champagne color.

Step 6: Apply the lighter blue eyeshadow on your lids. Applying the lighter blue eyeshadow on just your lids helps you to have a wash of color so the darker blue will look better.
Step 7: Get ready to do some serious blending! Apply a small amount of midnight blue on the outer corners of your eye and then slowly build that up working your way in. Applying small amounts allows you to control the color more. Apply what’s left on your brush on your lower lashline.
QUICK TIP: The excess particles can go all over your face so make sure to tap your brush after you dip it in.
Step 8: Take a shimmery yellow eyeshadow and apply it on the inner corner of your eye. Top everything off with mascara, both on the lower and upper lashes.
If you’re really patient, you should have something that looks like this:

Step 9: Apply your crimson (or red) lip color and you are ready to sail!
