Kim Kardashian Inspired: Smokey Eye + Bold Pink Lip
Pink is now the new red, all thanks to the ever so fabulous Kim Kardashian that donned this look in many of her photoshoots and in many of her photos captured by the paparazzi. She’s always been known as a trend-setter, not only in the fashion world but also in make-up.
Commonly, we should stay away from pairing dramatic eyes with a bold color on the lip but here’s a Kim K. inspired make-up tutorial that shows us how to do this look without looking too over the top.
Start with a clean face. Apply your foundation and concealer like how you normally would.
TIP: Use a flat foundation brush or a flat top brush to evenly apply your foundation, making it look more natural.
To make your foundation and concealer last longer, make sure to set everything with a light application of powder.
BROWS and EYES
Fill in your brows with a brow pencil or brow powder that’s 3 shades lighter than your hair color. In the photo, I used a brow pencil in dark brown.
Take a shimmery silver eyeshadow and apply it on the inner corners of both your eyes.
Apply a shimmery champagne color on your brow bones and then a medium dark shade of grey your eyelids. The color should go past your crease just a bit. Don’t forget to blend!
A smokier grey (not nearly black) should be applied the outer “V” of your eye. The outer “V” is a guide for you to apply your eyeshadows appropriately. To find this, imagine a horizontal letter V on the outer 1/3 of your eye when you close it. (Make sense??)
Line your eyes from the inner part going outward for the top and the bottom lashline. When you’re done lining everything, flick a bit of the eyeliner outward on the upper lashline to add a bit of drama (not too much, just a bit). Smudge out the bottom eyeliner with a cotton swab to smoke it out.
A hot pink lip needs a hot pink blush. Don’t apply to much though.
TIP: If you have a creamy lipstick, it’s possible to double that as a blush. Again, the key to that airbrushed effect is blending.
Now to apply a hotpink color on your lips! This is the
pièce de résistance!
I applied a matte hot pink lip color. Any kind of hotpink lip color will do, of course. You can even add gloss on your lips if you like. This just ties the whole look together!
TA-DUH! You should then have something like this! So how did you do?
It doesn’t have to be perfect and it doesn’t have to be exactly like Kim K’s look. The most important thing is how you carry this look when you step out the door.
I hope you had as much fun as I did doing this! And, comment if you have any requests Mew Bloggers could do.
