Highlighting can be tricky! I’ve generally avoided it since I have an oily skin. The last thing I want everyone to see are enlarged pores! Thus comes MAC with a re-promote Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade Lightscapade. It first launched to the general public in 2006 with the Danse Collection and ever since then this little gem has been popping up in various collections such as the MAC Fall Colour Collection and recently this year with the MAC Reel Sexy Collection.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Lightscapade is described as a soft candlelit beige with multi-dimensional shimmer, generally Mineralize Skinfinishs are multi-purpose products, they can be used as a bronzer, blush, highlighter and you can even apply it wet and use it as an eyeshadow. How neat right?
Lightscapade comes in a standard plastic black packaging from MAC. You get 10g(0.35oz) worth of product which is a lot for a highlight.
This is my first Mineralize Skinfinish from MAC, so far I’m loving this product! Like all Mineralize Skinfinish, this is a baked product so you have the option to use it wet or dry. Lightscapade is a yellowish-tone highlight which sheers out into your skin giving you a perfectly natural highlight. Lightscapade has a few different shades mixed in, with thin strips of blue, peach, and pink. Once you swirl your brush into the pan, the shades just cancel each other out. The glow is so amazingly natural that it just looks flawless when the light hits certain parts of your face.
How to use:
I generally apply Lightscapade on the highest part of my cheekbones for a really natural highlight.
Tip: Do you love the illuminating look with your under-eye concealar? After applying your regular concealar, set it with Lightscapade. I love doing this whenever I skip out on foundation and just want a natural highlight under my eye, with my dark circles I need a heavy coverage concealar and illuminating products usually don’t have enough coverage.
I wasn’t expecting much from a highlighter, to be honest I never understood the point of highlighting certain parts of your face. With my oily skin I had a feeling this would be a disaster. But my doubts changed once I started using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Lightscapade. What’s amazing about this product is that the shimmers are so finely milted that it doesn’t look like you have sparkles on your face! It just blends in flawlessly on my cheekbones leaving a soft barely-there glow.
This is a cool toned highlighter, I doubted whether this would suit my warm complexion but it really does a stellar job of giving a natural glow. I love how MSFs are multi-tasking products, sweeping this over your eye lids can bring an effortless look. I would recommend pairing this with a peachy-pink blush so you don’t look washed out.
You can lightly dust this on your cheekbones with a stippling brush if you have a dark complexion, even though the shimmer particles aren’t large this should still be used with a light hand.
The only issue I have with MSFs are its longevity, maximum I get about 5 hours of wear then it slowly begins to fade.
