The First Encounter

I think it was a year ago that I first saw this mascara — approximately 2 years after it’s release. I’ve been watching a couple of Michelle Phan’s Youtube tutorials back then and I saw that she was using a vibrating mascara from Lancome. So naturally, when I saw the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara — a vibrating mascara that’s a whole lot cheaper — I became a bit curious of what it can really do and how the vibration aspect of it really worked or if it could poke your eye out. I decided to get mine as waterproof and in very black.

It’s Promise

For Maybelline’s first try at vibrating mascaras, this product’s very ambitious when it came to the results it could deliver. It promised: to thicken without the clumps, to deliver intense color, and to separate your lashes smoothly. The vibrating part of it, helps in the even coating and separation of each lash making it less clumpy. It’s everything you would ever want in a mascara! Sounded too good to be true, to me.

Is it a splurge?

Generally, online stuff are much cheaper than what you would find in the mall. I got mine for about $5 but it can go for $6 to up to $15 depending on where you would buy it. Compared to high end vibrating mascaras, the price I bought it for was definitely a steal.

The Moment of Truth: Demo and ApplicationWhat Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara - Actual Picture

I got my order a day after I bought it online. Waiting for it seemed like forever so when I had my hands on the package, I ripped it open (ruthlessly!), I got the product out and immediately tried it in front of the mirror.

You have to peel off the plastic tab for the battery to activate. The vibration was not that scary and intense. It was enough to apply the product evenly and it did not poke my eye out so that’s good news.

To demonstrate:

without Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara

My lashes normally look average: medium length, not so thick, and non-existent bottom lashes (as you can see).

With Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara

I applied only one coating on both my top and bottom lashes. Press the button located on the handle to activate the vibration. Stroke the brush/ wand upward minus the usual wiggling motion because the vibration’s going to do all the work for you.

Tip: To separate your lashes more effectively, make sure to apply nearest the root of your lashes and then slowly work your way upward. Just upward and no need to do the wiggling motion for your wand.

The outcome of Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara

Now the full view of my lashes. How do you like my lashes now?

My Verdict

I was using Covergirl’s Lash Blast before this so I was already convinced that this was the holy grail of all mascaras and nothing else. I didn’t really set my expectations that high with the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara BUT I actually love it!

Pros:

-It definitely gives volume and an extra “umph” to your curl.

-When they said very black, they really do mean very black.

-The vibration is just right. Not too much that it could potentially hurt your eye. You can feel the vibration but it’s comfortable and it definitely helps in applying the product evenly.

-The price is not that bad depending on where you purchased it.

-Does not smudge or run throughout the day.

Cons:

-My lashes were lengthened but not so much.

-Flakes a little and clumps a little.

This mascara is definitely in my top 5 list and can be a dupe for those expensive vibrating mascaras.
