Neon Eyeliner + Nude Lip Makeup Tutorial
This summer, one of my favorite trends has been the neon/nude phenomenon. After trying it in everything from shoes to nail polish, I finally realized that one of the best ways to incorporate this look is into my makeup! To create my own neon/nude look, I used neon eyeliner, a shimmering highlighter, and a nude lipstick. For this tutorial, I used a neon green eyeshadow, although you could use any neon color! For other occasions, I have used neon yellow, blue, and even pink!
Step 1
To prep my face for the neon eyeliner look, I applied a tinted foundation. Then, I applied a creamy, shimmering highlighter to my cheekbones in a circular motion using the pads of my fingers. Also, I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion on my eyelids and in the inner corner of my eye to make sure the eyeshadow stayed put. To prep my pout for the lipstick, I also applied a moisturizing chapstick.
Step 2
I used an angled eyeliner brush like the one pictured below to apply the neon eyeshadow. To make the shadow easier to apply, I ran the brush under water and squeezed the excess out with a towel. This makes the eyeshadow stick together and look more like a liquid eyeliner.
I used several different shades from the e.l.f. Studio Endless Eyes Pro Eyeshadow Palette, pictured below. I used the bright neon green three places down from the top to start. Then, I used the bright green in the same row three spaces from the bottom to add more definition.
Using the angled eyeliner brush, I applied the neon eyeliner along my lash line from the inner corner to just slightly beyond the outer corner of my eye. I find that the angled brush is much easier to use than a straight one so that I can reach the inner corner without accidentally poking my eye.
Step 3
As you can see in the picture about, the neon eyeliner is applied in a fairly thick line along my lashline. To finish the eye makeup, I applied a white cream shadow in the inner corner and along the brow bone to brighten the eye. Also, I applied several coats of black mascara to add drama.
Step 4
To finish the look, I applied a creamy nude lipstick, specifically e.l.f. Matte Lip Color in Nude.
I really love the pop of neon in this look! I would apply this before going out on the weekend with my friends. Also, try experimenting with different neon colors to find your favorite! Let me know what you think of this look in the comments below!

Loving neon colored everything this summer, especially on the eyes. Matte neons really does make your eyes POP! I like the ELF green that you chose. I’m really excited by LUSH’s new Emotional Brilliance, especially their bright neon eyeliners. Now to get my grubby paws on them.
Thanks! I need to look into those! When I was looking for a matte neon eyeliner, I couldn’t find one anywhere, so I just improvised
I absolutely love the neon liner/nude lip combo! I love how the neon color makes the entire face pop, no matter what skin tone. Gorge!
Thanks for reading! After trying this out on myself, I invited my friends over for a makeover session, and this neon look ended up looking great on all of their skin tones! I think that it looks best when the color of the eyeliner contrasts with your eye color
