In need of a white pencil to highlight the lower lash line, I thought I picked up this eye liner while I was shopping at The Body Shop. You know one of those times when you defiantly go against your gut feeling just to prove yourself wrong? Wrong decision! I tested out on the spot and the pencil was not smooth at at. It deposited very little color. But feeling stubborn, I decided to give this one a try. What a waste of money!
The Body Shop Eye Definer pencil could not be used on the waterline because it is so rough on the skin. Apply it without tugging and pulling was impossible. And yet after all that fuss, the color payoff was just so flat pathetic. Dear ladies and gents, if you want to prevent wrinkles around the eye area, remember- don’t put things on your eyes that involve tugging and pulling.
The top shows the first line drawn. The one below is after three strokes. With this pencil, I am forced to go over the line thrice to get the color to show. After the abuse I did to my eyes, the color did not even stay the entire day.
This was one of the worst purchases I did for makeup because this little pencil cost me US$11. The ingredient list isn’t spectacular. This Body Shop eyeliner contains 5 types of different parabens. The first ingredient on the list is cheap Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. So I am left wondering why the hefty price tag. There seem to be two different versions of this eyeliner. The UK version does not list any parabens and has methicone (for staying power I presume).
If I want a keeper, that is smooth and with made with quality ingredients, Korres eyeliner pencils are the answer. Fork out another $5 bucks and you get better color pay off and that color that stays throughout the day. Read my review on Korres Soft Liner here.
